Cuban singer and percussionist Pedrito Martínez and his band have been a huge hit in Manhattan for nearly a decade. A master of Cuban music, Martínez goes beyond the traditional form, drawing on complex rhythms, jazz, and pop. Martínez’s musical talent and onstage charisma have garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination, Modern Drummer’s Percussionist of the Year, and a Thelonious Monk award. The group’s second album, Habana Dreams, was released in the spring of 2016 with special guests that included Rubén Blades, Issac Delgado, Wynton Marsalis, Angélique Kidjo, and more.
“The Pedrito Martínez Group is writing a new chapter in Cuban music history”–NPR All Things Considered
“In a musical world so filled with counterfeit output, it is refreshing to see a genuine talent like Pedrito emerge….Always curious, forever searching, restless, he’s the type of artist whose product is forever fresh and vital.”–Ruben Blades May, 2016
